Faith:Trust

Jesus said, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29).

Jesus has asked us all to trust him blindly. How is this even possible? Have you ever been blindfolded and spun around in circles to make you feel dizzy then handed a stick to hit a pinata hoping you will get candy? Or what about playing pin a tail on a donkey? Both of these circumstances you have been blindly trusting your family and friends to lead you in the right direction. Was this because you trusted them and had faith in them that they would not lead you astray? I know I have and it is because I solely trusted them to help me out when I could not see.

What’s the difference in blindly trusting God during a time where you are feeling lost, blinded by someone or something or you know a major change is coming your way. Sure, it is easier to blindly trust your family and friends during a game of pin a tail on a donkey because they are physically there with you- you can hear, feel and touch their presence. What if we had the same trust and faith in our Lord Savior during a time of need, a time of drastic change, or being blinded by society today.

To have faith is to have trust in the Lord. Faith is believing in the Lord and trust is placing your confidence in the Lord that He will follow through with His promises. Faith is a belief while trust is an action, in which both are future oriented.

I have personally been through a lot of changes within the past several months that would have been major stressors and caused me to question God’s plan for me and my family, but through my journey to parenthood, my faith and trust in the Lord has multiplied thousands. I had hit rock bottom and learned to rely solely on my faith of the Lord (see Try Faith blog-link it). It did not happen overnight. It was a slow steady and painful process at times, but God always provided for me. God is always preparing us for our next “adventure” if we allow Him to be our beacon. Trusting God during a time of change and transition has its challenges, but is also so rewarding and freeing to not borrow any stress and worries.

My challenge to you is to dig deep into your relationship with God and His Word during a time of blindness and no sense of direction. He is the beacon to life. The change that is coming your way or that you are already experiencing is part of His plan for you. Embrace it. Be open to stepping outside of your comfort zone and to remove your thoughts about your “perfect scenario”. God’s plans are by far greater than our own. You will be surprised how freeing it will make you feel and how relaxed and stress free you will be during this time.

Always remember, faith is believing in the Lord and trust is having confidence in the Lord’s plan.

XOXO,

Megan
